I joined Pep to assist with coaching Burton Grindhouse Fight Team shortly after its creation in 2005. I started training traditional martial arts at an early age, spending several years doing Judo, Karate and Ninjutsu. On attending university in Leicester in 1999, I started training mixed martial arts after an interest in the UFC, and some convincing by Pep! At the time there were few good MMA schools in the UK, and my drive to get better and learn lead me to start-up Leicester Shootfighting (with Jimmy Cairney), train with August Wallen (Shooters Shootfighting) and meet Nathan Leverton. At that time we were all learning wherever we could to develop our particular take on submission wrestling and mixed martial arts, with a clear focus on what works.
On returning to Burton I stopped training for sometime, but was again convinced by Pep to join him at Burton Grindhouse MMA, to assist with coaching. I now focus on coaching wrestling for MMA, and being a good sparring partner for my team mates.
